The purpose of this guide is to configure a non-EasyPass Guest Access Portal with a Guest Wi-Fi SSID, and deploy this configuration to Xirrus and Cambium XV APs in Cambium XMS Cloud.
Pre-Requisites:
- The user must already have an XMS account.
- The user must already have a Xirrus or Cambium XV Enterprise AP onboarded to their XMS account.
Step 1:
Log in to XMS cloud using your admin credentials. Upon login success, the My Network screen will be shown.
Step 2:
At the top of the page, select Profiles and open your network profile.
Step 3:
In your Network Profile, select the Access Points icon to configure your SSID. In this example, we have configured a Guest SSID with open authentication/no encryption, operating on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio bands.
Step 4:
In the SSID section, use the scroll bar to scroll to the Access Control column. Click the drop-down menu and select Captive Portal from the options.
Step 5:
After selecting Captive Portal in step 4, a pop-up window will open to begin the captive portal configuration wizard. In this example, we will be configuring a simple splash page that will be hosted by the Xirrus APs - note there are also options for a basic RADIUS login page, a simple landing page, and externally hosted 3rd party portals (such as Encapto).
Select the Splash Page captive portal option, and make sure the Host on Xirrus Access Points setting is enabled. Click the Next button to proceed.
Step 6:
On the next page of the Captive Portal wizard, there are options for Redirect Timeout, Landing Page URL, and a Whitelist. In this example, we have configured a landing page URL of https://purdi.com to redirect Guest Wi-Fi clients to following a successful login, and a whitelist of *.google.com to allow clients to browse to Google before completing the portal login. Click the Next button to proceed.
Step 7:
The next step in the Captive Portal wizard is to design your splash page that the clients will see when joining the Guest Wi-Fi network. The editor supports multiple text formats, images, and buttons. To begin designing your splash page, click File > New Document.
Note: In order to proceed past this step, a Proceed button is required in the captive portal design. To insert this, select Insert > Proceed Button.
Once you have designed your splash page, click the Save & Finish button.
Step 8:
Now the Captive Portal configuration is complete, the final step is to push the new Guest SSID configuration to your APs. To do this, click the Save Configuration button and select the Push Now option to immediately push the new configuration to the APs that are a member of your network profile.
