Purpose
The purpose of this guide is to configure and deploy a Network Profile to Xirrus and Cambium XV APs in Cambium XMS Cloud.
Pre-Requisites:
- The user must already have an XMS account.
- The user must already have a Xirrus or Cambium XV Enterprise AP onboarded to their XMS account.
Step 1:
Log in to XMS cloud using your admin credentials. Upon login success, the My Network screen will be shown.
Step 2:
At the top of the page, select Profiles. The Profiles page will open. To create a new Network Profile, click the +New Profile button and enter the profile name and description. Click the Create New Profile button to continue.
Step 3:
After creating the profile, the General page will open. Enter the desired Admin Contact Information and change the device Admin Password accordingly - this will be used to log into the local management GUI of the APs using this network profile. Expand the Show Advanced section to enter NTP & Syslog server addresses if required.
Step 4:
Select the Network icon to open the network settings section. Define the IP Addressing and DNS server addresses in the IP Address and DNS sections - choose from either static, DHCP, or manual. Bonjour Gateway can also be enabled in this section.
Expand the Show Advanced section to define Discovery Protocol (LLDP & CDP), DHCP Pool, VLAN, RSTP and Active Directory information if required.
Step 5:
Select the Access Points icon to begin configuring SSIDs for broadcast throughout the wireless network.
Click the +New SSID button to add a new SSID. Enter the SSID name, select the radio band for operation, and define the encryption/authentication method for use.
In this instance, we have selected WPA2/802.1X. After selecting this option, a pop-up window will open allowing the encryption type to be selected and the authentication method and information (such as passphrase) to be entered.
After saving these settings and returning to the Access Points > SSID page, define the VLAN ID the SSID will be using.
Step 6:
Save the configuration by clicking the Save Configuration button. Select the Push Now option as we currently do not have any APs assigned to this Network Policy so there is no need to schedule a configuration push.
Step 7:
Click the Access Points tab to open the All Access Points screen. To assign APs to this Network Policy from your inventory, click the Add Access Points button.
In the resulting pop-up window, move the desired APs (shown as serial numbers) from the Unassigned column to the Network Profile column, and click the Add Access Points button.
Once the APs have been assigned they will show up in the All Access Points table.
Step 8:
Finally, we need to deploy the configuration to the APs. Select the Configuration tab to re-open the configuration page, hit the Save Configuration to open the configuration push window, and select Push Now to deploy the new Network Profile to the APs.
